Every once in a while during a wedding, I take a break.
Just for a minute, I put my camera down. I look around and do my best to soak in what’s happening around me.
And I usually get choked up.
I’m inspired. By the emotion, the joy and all of the craziness that is a wedding day. I am floored, always, that my couples allow me to do what I do. They put their trust in me capture something that will last forever.
They let me in.
So when I take a moment to reflect and think about the enormity of the day, it usually all hits me all at once. I am thankful. To be there, to capture things the way I see them, and to be a small part of the day.

“You are gnarly as fuck and we want to hire you for our wedding!”
Sorry for cursing, but that’s the text I got from Jon right after I met with he and Niki for the first time. Of course we had just polished off a few drinks together, but it was flattering nonetheless.
Sometimes you just click with your clients. Niki and Jon are that kind of client for me. Laid back, creative, and a helluva lot of fun. We shot their engagements at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna.
But I’m really looking forward to their wedding in October. I’m guessing it will be gnarly as fuck.
