Kimmy + Chilly / Rustic Virginia Wedding

There is so much I want to say about Kimmy and Chilly’s wedding. I am really not sure where to begin.

I want to tell you all about how beautiful they looked, about the setting, and the perfect day. How it was MY kind of wedding, rustic and outdoorsy and completely personal. How I showed up wearing the same shirt from J. Crew that Chilly was wearing on his wedding day. We were off to a good start.

But that’s not the real story. At least not to me.

What you need to know is Kimmy has become one of my favorite people I’ve been lucky enough to work with. We never had a chance to meet before their wedding day, but Kimmy and Chilly made it a mission to make me feel as if we’d known each other forever. Kimmy would drop me notes leading up to her wedding day, just to say hello, to let me know she couldn’t wait to have me photograph the day for them. I was greeted with bear hugs and a kindness that is hard to explain.

Southern hospitality, as they say.

It takes a special kind of couple to make me feel that way. And the truth is I don’t have much of a way to thank them, except to photograph what I see, to be creative and share it with all of you here. And hopefully my photos will make them a little happier in the years to come.

My favorites are the black and white ones with the film grain in them…it adds that older tone into the pictures without the vintage sepia.
